Look Mom! I’m published!
I am crazy happy to be included in this book – The Applique Book – compiled by a wonderful women and amazing artist, Casey York.
I was lucky enough to work with Casey on her first book, Modern Applique Illusions, while I was with C&T Publishing. When she asked me to contribute to her next book, it was no-brainer!
I love applique – and this book is something I would have loved when I first got started. There are so many ways to prepare and sew applique and most of them are included here. Something for everyone.
I chose to make a Beach Huts wall-hanging — something I had in my head for a long time.
I love choosing the fabrics when I make a quilt, and my biggest tip is to look for spots where you can add unexpected details…
See the stars on the roof?
Those are cars…
The tree trunk?
It’s Melody Miller’s backgammon fabric from her Playful collection. Can’t you just see the palm tree texture in there?
I hope this will give you a little food for thought the next time you select fabrics for an applique project – have fun with it!
Thanks to the generosity of Stash Books, I’m able to give away a copy of The Appliqué Book to a lucky reader!
To enter, leave a comment on this post about you thoughts on choosing fabrics for applique.
Comment by midnight on Friday, March 25, and I’ll announce a random winner on Saturday, March 26.
