One of the highlights of my trip to Quilt Market was seeing the Japanese Quilt exhibit inspired by Reiko Kato — a long time hero of mine.
These are a few of the highlights… Lots more are on the Pinterest Board: Allison Rosen goes to #quiltmarket!
Allison, I spent 29 years in the public school system teaching children with autism. Having followed your pod cast since you started I feel like I know you…I do know I care for you and yours. I would like to be a sounding board for you and offer you insights of working with the special education programs and how to maintain sanity while making sure your son gets what he needs. I do not want to post my phone # for all the world to see so email me at shellygrappe@gmail. com We are alike in many ways besides quilting and loving “children with autism”. and religion. PS personal rant here” Max is not an autistic child he is a child with autism. He is first a child and many other things before he you get to the autism. It is a part of him…not the whole him. And let me say…it can become a small part, and a good part. Did you know charles shultz who wrote peanuts was a writer with autism…not an autistic writer? He wrote his comics in a bowling alley..when it was being closed down he bought the building so he could continue to write. “I got two strong arms…let me help.” Ageing Hippy here. Max’s life journey is not the trip you packed for…but grab your suitcase because you are already on the bus. You may have packed a snowsuit as you thought you were going to the Alaska and now realize you are headed to Key West. So the trick is how are you going to turn your snowsuit into bathing suits for your family. It can be done..I promise. drop me a line if you want my input.
Shelly Beth sounds like a very caring person. Hope she can help you Allison. She’ll understand.
It sounds like you had a WONDERFUL time at market….just what the doctor ordered 🙂 Hope you are feeling better and thanks for sharing all your great finds and stories! We better not go shopping together because i’m afraid we share the same mindset of “SQUIRREL!” LOL thanks for all you do!
Alison please send me an email. I cannot find yours in the website. I LOVE your podcast and as a pattern designed thinking about going to spring market for the first time next year I live the one in market.
